Velvet Acid Christ - Biografia - Discografia

Velvet Acid Christ (VAC) é uma banda de electro-industrial, baseada em Denver, Colorado. A banda foi formada em 1990, ganhando popularidade limitada em cena na Europa em meados da década de 1990 antes de se expandir em outros mercados da subcultura gótica e industrial. Discografia da banda inclui 12 álbuns.
Bryan Erickson é vocalista, músico e produtor por trás de Velvet Acid Christ.
A maioria dos trabalhos da banda é classificado entre os gêneros do gótico, industrial, electro-industrial e EBM, alegre, triste, e psicodélica.O conteúdo lírico da banda oferece um enfoque variado, incluindo temas como amor, ódio, depressão, misantropia, drogas e religião. Erickson é o principal compositor do grupo.
Grande parte da composição musical de Velvet Acid Christ foi produzido com sintetizadores e software de computador . Outros instrumentos usados pela banda incluem sequenciadores como o tambor de máquinas e guitarras elétricas com pedais de efeitos . Amostragem, que é o uso de clipes de som, como parte de uma nova gravação, é uma outra técnica comumente empregada pela banda.
A banda cita muitas influências musicais, inclusive entre muitos outros, Aphex Twin, Rush, Skinny Puppy, Cocteau Twins, The Cure e Siouxsie and The Banshees .
No início de 1990, Erickson e Grigory Bilham, ambos moradores do Colorado, reuniram o seu interesse comum em criar música para gravar uma série de demos. Com a adição de Gary Abate e Workman Chris, o grupo tentou várias bandas, incluindo a Disease Disco Factory, uma paródia do então grupo de dança popular C + C Music Factory, e Toxic Coma. [Carece de fontes?] Após um período turbulento de Erickson e Slaughter, Workman deixou o grupo . Slaughter e Erickson experimentou com duas laterais de novos projectos, Cyber Christ e Vortex. Cyber Christ explorou um som áspero e melancolico que foi um agudo contraste com outros projetos do grupo. Quando Erickson descobriu e o termo "cyber Christ" foi usado no filme de 1992 The Lawnmower Man, ele renomeou a banda Velvet Acid Christ "em homenagem a uma má viagem de trip de ácido". Ao projeto Vortex foi incorporado Velvet Acid Christ para formar um corpo de trabalho.
Em 1994, Workman retornou para ajudar no auto produzido "fita demo"de estilo gótico estilo, "Fate". Dando resposta encorajadora dos amigos, a banda seguiu com outros auto-produzidos álbuns,o de 1994 "Pestilence", e o de 1995 "Neuralblastoma".
Erickson, juntamente com amigos e colaboradores menores como Steve Bird e Dan Olson, lançaram a gravadora Electro Death Trip (EDT) Records para promover melhor essas gravações. Em 1995, os três começaram a distribuição de cópias de CD de feitos à mão do Fate, Pestilence,e Neuralblastoma para revenda em lojas de música local.
