Lycia - Biografia - Discografia

Lycia é uma banda de Gothic/Ethereal de Phoenix,Estados Unidos.
Mike Van Portfleet formou Lycia no início de 1988 na sua cidade natal, Phoenix. Inspirado pelo post-punk e o som ethereal dos anos 80, ele começou a fazer experiências com loops de guitarra no seu gravador de quatro pistas. Ele recrutou um velho amigo, o baixista John Fair, para se juntar a ele, e é gravado "Wake" em 1989 para o Orfanato Phoenix Records. John Fair deixou um ano depois de tocar com Caterwaul, mas Van Portfleet continuou a gravar, enviando os seu demos ao rótulo goth-Projekt ambiente. Projekt gostou do que ouviu e assinou um contrato. A primeira liberação de Lycia para Projekt, Ionia, apareceu em 1991. Após a gravação "A Day in the Stark Corner" em 1993, tornou-se um duo mais uma vez, quando David Galas apareceu em vários concertos ao vivo na Califórnia, documentado em 1994 Live. Van Portfleet e Galas gravaram em estúdio como Bleak, um projeto paralelo que lançou Van em 1995. Tara Van Flor se tornou o terceiro membro de Lycia nesse ano, e sua voz apareceu em "The Burning Circle and Then Dust", um álbum duplo lançado em 1995, seguido de "Estrella" em 1998.
