Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - Biografia - Discografia

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry é uma banda de Leeds,Inglaterra, formados no final de 1981 pelo guitarrista/letrista Chris Reed (ex-Radio Id) e o vocalista Mark Sweeney (ex- Knife Edge).A sua parte rítmica foi completada por Steve Smith (baixo) e Mick Brown (bateria - mais tarde The Mission). Sweeney sai sem deixar nada gravado com a banda, o que obriga Reed a assumir os vocais e adicionar às pressas um segundo guitarrista, Martin Fagan, para editar o single de estréia em 1982; “Beating My Head”. A carreira do RLYL é marcada por três fases; a primeira (e melhor) era quando gravava pela Red Rhino (a mesma gravadora do Skeletal Family, 1919 etc…) - havia criado um estilo único e empolgante marcado por guitarras sujas, baterias esmurradas e vocais ferozes à la Ian Curtis. As letras eram mais “existencialistas” e transmitidas num tom meio velho oeste. Ainda nessa “era”, em 1987, eles adoptam temporariamente o “nick name” de The Lorries lançando o single “Crawling Mantra”. A sua segunda fase, novamente como Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, é definida a partir da sua contratação pela Situation Two. No álbum, “Nothing Wrong” (1988 - o terceiro), já não era possível notar o peso do inicio. Alguns elementos “industriais” com pop resultariam numa sonoridade mais dançante fazendo com que a banda flertasse um pouco com a “cultura rave”, que começava a ganhar poder nos mídia pelo ano de 1989 - isto marca a sua terceira e ultima fase. A perda da identidade e as diferenças artísticas levaram a separação. Mas, para a satisfação de muitos, Mr. Reed ainda pisa nos palcos esporadicamente com os Red Lorry, tentando esquecer alguns períodos de fiasco da sua carreira para reviver os momentos de gloria fazendo aquilo que ele soube fazer de melhor no inicio dos anos 80.
