The Awakening - Biografia - Discografia

Primeira banda de Gothic Rock da África do Sul, agora com base no E.U.A.. The Awakening lançaram 8 álbums completos desde 1997 .A Música The Awakening tem evoluído e se transformado ao longo dos anos, incorporando goth, industrial, dark-rock, electro, new wave e vários tons de experimental.
Antes de The Awakening surgir, Ashton Nyte(vocalista)era membro do Martyr's Image, em 1994. Um ano depois,acrescentou o baixista da sua antiga banda Jenni Hazell e o guitarrista Philip Booyens para um novo projecto, que a princípio seria chamado de Children of the Torch, que foi mudado posteriormente para The Awakening.
Após o primeiro concerto do novo projeto, o líder começa a produção do primeiro disco, Risen. Esse álbum conta com o cover de Simon and Garfunkel, The Sounds of Silence. O single desse disco atingiu o primeiro lugar nos tops de sucesso na África do Sul.
Ashton investiu num estúdio e nele produziu o seu segundo disco, Reques, no ano de 1998. Nesse mesmo ano lança também um selo próprio, "Intervention Arts". Esse selo serviu também para atender a demanda européia pelos discos da banda, relançando os dois primeiros discos em versão remasterizada.
e acabaram de lançar o seu 8 álbum "Tales Of Absolution + Obsoletion" em julho de 2009.
